At Castle, we're building a community where people can have fun making and playing games. We want our community to be a place where everyone feels safe and comfortable as they play new games, make their own creative choices, and learn new skills.
In order to foster that type of community, we've made some rules about certain things that aren't welcome on Castle. This is a living document, and we expect to update it from time to time as we learn where different boundaries lie.
In general, please be kind and courteous. There’s no need to be mean or rude. If you think your deck or comment would cause someone else to have less fun, don't post it.
You can use the rest of this document to learn about specific cases of things that aren't allowed. If you aren't sure whether something is right for Castle, please ask a staff member on our Discord, or use the Report button in the app.
The Castle Community Guidelines apply to any environment that is part of the castle.xyz community, including the Castle app, the Castle Discord server, the Castle Twitch channel, and any other event or forum hosted by Castle — we’ll refer to all of these together as “Castle” going forward.
All content you post on Castle, such as decks, messages, comments, or screenshots, is subject to these Community Guidelines.
Context matters when it comes to applying our guidelines, and we’ll use our discretion when deciding to take down content if we feel the spirit of the Guidelines has been violated, or if we encounter new issues that aren’t explicitly covered here.
Even if a word or image may not violate our guidelines by itself, using it in a way that might insult, harm, or shock others is not permitted. In addition, we may consider off-platform behavior and information when applying these guidelines.
If you violate the Community Guidelines, we may take the following actions:
If your account is terminated for violating our Terms of Service or these Community Guidelines, you are not allowed to use Castle again.
Community reporting helps us keep Castle safe. Please use the reporting and blocking tools to deal with problematic content or behavior, or write us at support@castle.xyz.
You can block another person on Castle for any reason. Once blocked, that person’s decks won’t show up in your feed, and their actions will not send you notifications. To block someone, go to their profile or one of their decks, press “...”, then press “Block”. To unblock someone, go to their profile, press “…”, then press “Unblock”.
If you notice a card or deck that you find objectionable or which you believe violates these Community Guidelines, you can report the deck. The deck will no longer show up in your feed and Castle will be notified of your report. To report a deck, tap the “...” button and then press “Report and hide deck".
Castle is used by people of all ages. In order to maintain a safe experience, certain topics and images are limited to older players. If your deck has violence, swearing, sexuality, or other sensitive content, you are required to specify this in the Sensitivity settings before publishing.
You should not clone other people’s work. If you remix someone else’s deck or reuse their blueprints, you need to add some changes of your own that make your deck a unique experience, even if those changes are simple art swaps or a slight twist to the rules.
Bullying, threatening, or harassment of any kind is not allowed, even in jest. Disagreements happen, but you may not make continuous, repetitive, or severe negative comments about someone or their content.
If you are blocked by another user, do not circumvent it.
Don’t troll, flame, bait, spam, or engage in other attention-stealing behavior that detracts from the community. Don't create decks with aggressively loud sounds or flashing lights.
Don’t make decks that objectify real people (e.g. decks about ranking or voting on people).
Don’t engage in targeted deadnaming or misgendering of other users.
You may not post content promoting violence or hatred against individuals or groups, including slurs or using words in a derogatory way, based on any of the following or similar attributes: Age, Caste, Color, Disability, Ethnicity, Gender Identity and Expression, Nationality, Race, Immigration Status, Political Party, Pregnancy Status, Religion, Sex/Gender, Sexual Orientation, Socio-Economic Status, Victims of a major violent event and their kin, Veteran Status, Weight or Body Type.
Do not make decks where the purpose is to harm or demean a person or group based on any of the above attributes.
Terrorist, extremist, and hate groups are prohibited from using Castle, and content cannot promote violent extremism or terrorism.
Depictions of cruel, sexual, or excessively graphic violence toward any living creature are not allowed. The more realistic the depiction of the living creature, the lower the tolerance we’ll have for depictions of violence against them.
Decks cannot have a goal of causing harm to characters that are depictions of specific individuals or groups of people (i.e. murder, genocide, or assassination themes).
Depictions of hunting animals are permitted if they are not overly graphic or cruel.
You may not post content that promotes or depicts instructions for building realistic guns or other weapons.
Your deck cannot have an explicit suicide option, mechanic, ending, etc.
Don’t create content that glorifies or promotes suicide or self-harm. This includes any encouragement to others to injure themselves or embrace eating disorders.
Self-harm threats used as a form of emotional manipulation or coercion are also prohibited.
Content that is exceptionally disgusting or revolting is not permitted, such as extreme bathroom humor.
You may not post pornographic material or facilitate prostitution. Romantic and sex-positive content is permitted as long as the appropriate sensitivity ratings is set and it doesn’t violate any other aspect of these Guidelines.
Do not make decks that include violence against children, or characters that look like children.
Don’t sexualize, objectify, or exploit children in any way, or create content that depicts this. You cannot share content or links which depict children in a pornographic or sexually suggestive manner, including illustrated or digitally altered pornography that depicts children (such as lolicon or shotacon).
You cannot engage in grooming behaviors with children.
We report illegal child abuse content and grooming to National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, who work with global law enforcement agencies.
Don’t share content that could be false or misleading, such as denying the existence of tragic events, making unsubstantiated medical claims, undermining the integrity of civic processes, or manipulating content for false or misleading purposes.
Don’t pretend to be someone or something that you’re not, or attempt to deceive people about who you are. Don’t create fake “official” accounts.
Don’t use Castle to spam, manipulate engagement, or disrupt other people’s experience, including by using bots, fake accounts, multiple accounts, or other automation. This prohibition includes designing games with the intent to freeze or bog down the Castle systems or another user’s device.
Don’t use Castle for any illegal or dangerous activity — including to promote criminal activity; facilitate or participate in cybercrime; human trafficking, or to buy, sell or facilitate sales of illegal or regulated drugs, contraband, weapons, and counterfeit goods or documents. We may report these activities to law enforcement.
Don’t share content that violates anyone’s intellectual property or other rights. Do not use material subject to copyright or other proprietary rights, unless you have necessary permission or are otherwise legally entitled to post the material and to grant Castle the license to use it.
Don't share content that claims to offer bricks as a prize, or falsely represents that bricks might be earned, such as "Play for Bricks" or "Free Bricks". Don't attempt to manipulate people into making unwanted purchases or exchanges. Don't make decks which impersonate any Castle interface for collecting, purchasing, or exchanging items, or otherwise appear to be offered by Castle itself. Don't use third-party services to sell, trade, or give away Bricks or other Castle inventory items.
