Story: During the events of Sonic 2 (Master System), Eggman took the Chaos Emeralds and captured Tails, and the only way to rescue Tails is to retrieve the Chaos Emeralds, but Sonic killed Eggman and tore at his face, Eggman then burned to death because of an explosion. Sonic did this as revenge for Eggman capturing Tails, the fire ended up causing a permanent smile on his face, meaning no matter what expression he feels, he will always have a creepy stretched smile. Sonic thought that since he defeated Eggman, Tails is safe! But unfortunately, since Eggman had the Chaos Emeralds, the Chaos Emeralds burnt with Eggman. Meaning Tails is now dead. Sonic is now stuck in an endless world where he is alone, no matter how many zones he passes, he still feels regret.
