I wanna clarify something. Yes, the arcades did already use cards way back in the 90s, but! It wasn't really normalized until 2001-2010s somewhere between that. Even until 2018, videogames still use the term "Insert a coin!" and yes their machines has coin slot as well. But i think we all can agree that it's not easy to find arcade machine that still use the coin slot. The place owner must've already install the card reader ready for you to waste your money on. If you happen to find one without the card reader, it's probably one of those salvaged machine that's somehow still works. in other words, it's old af
