Because he dosent have hands to use the key

the key will free him. Somehow, he wont find food and die. He needs the bread to survive the night and then later on get the key and flee away.

Cuz bread tastes better than key

Because food is more important than freedom, without it he will die of starvation

Because there's a guard so he chose the bread and he will wait for the guard to leave and then get the key and leave
