Because they're connected in lore. Mafioso was on good terms with Chance before Chance's rigged game and his escape with the prize. I don't think Mafioso hated Chance, he just wants his money (I don't remember, but I think someone of the developers said later that it was money) back. In general, these two often helps me to relax and when I'm sad, and I really love their fluff relationship... :(( I'm just ashamed of some of the fans of this ship who disgrace it, and I don't like those who literally follow all the content with double fedora just to write a bad review (thereby promoting the author).

Hmmmm.. People just stated the fact that in fanon chance has bunny ears and mafioso too. They ship them together because of their similarities/ lore together. It’s like enemy X enemy y’know? I may ship them because of fanon, but that doesn’t mean I disrespect people that don’t. YOU GUYS HAVE A REASON NOT TO SHIP THEM!! :DD
